On Saturday September 21, there will be an “Iron Man” shoot at the club. An iron man shoot consists of a 2 person team shooting 15 3-D archery targets and 1 round (25 birds) of wobble trap from the 16 yard line. Teammates will be randomly drawn from those who sign up for each event. You may, but don’t have to, shoot in both events. Shooters must sign up for the event(s) they wish to participate in at the bar now through the 21st. Check in will be on that Saturday between 10:00am – 10:30am with shooting starting at 11:00am. The cost for each event is $15 and $5 if you want to purchase a Mulligan for your event. Only 1 Mulligan per event is allowed. Cash prizes will be awarded for the first, second, and third place teams. The prizes will be 50% for 1st, 30% for 2nd, and 20% of the pot for 3rd place. The pot will consist of $10 from each entry fee. Bring your favorite meat to grill and a dish to pass as the club is going to try to make this a picnic for all shooters. Beer and lemonade will be provided by the club.
Plug and Pellet has now opened our archery courses to the public on Sunday morning. Archers are welcome to come out and use the practice, field, and 3D ranges. Shooters must sign in at the bar and pay a $10 user fee between 8:00am – 11:00am. All archers who are not shooting with a paid member must be off the courses by noon. This is a great way to get ready for deer season and to practice your ability to judge distances on the 3D course. Only field (target) tips are to be used - absolutely NO broad heads are allowed.
Many states are now requiring bow hunters to show that they have completed a hunter safety course for archery. Plug and Pellet is trying to find out how many people would be interested in taking this class. The cost is $20 and it lasts approximately 8 hours. Let us know if you want to take this course by signing up at the club house. When we know if enough people are interested we can let the instructor know and set a date.
Fall leagues are getting ready to start. The RIAA starts on August 27 and the open league starts on August 29. There is a $40 per team sponsor fee. The individual cost for league shooters is $11 per night. Form your teams now and sign upon line. If you don’t have a team to shoot with you are welcome to sign up as well. This is a great way to meet fellow trap shooters as we will try to make teams for everyone who signs up.
For a third year in a row we are offering our trap shooting clinic for new and novice female shooters. It has proven to be a fun and informative way to learn more about this sport.
